OT, but I recall reading that during WWI the brits would bring their casualties back to out of the way ports late at night and unannounced to hide the number of casualties they were incurring. Probably harder to do in the internet age (http://icasualties.org/oif/ and such)

That's what I told her but she disagreed.

She's just stupid. A stupid person will say stupid things no matter how schooled or informed they are. You can give them all the information in the world, but they won't be able to make sense of it.

I'd say the vast majority of casualties are from smoke inhalation.
