If this routine drug arrest did not involve the Sarah Palin family in any way, it would not even have made the national news. And we would not be discussing it on P&N.
But if the drug arrest was somewhat politically motivated, there is something deeply unfair about putting the lives of anyone even tangentially associated with Palin or any other national public official
under the disproportionate microscope of law enforcement.
Of course it wouldn't be news without Palin, just as the Bush daughter's arrest for underage drinking wouldn't be a news story if her father weren't the President.
Why in the world would there be any suspicion this is a politically motivated arrest? They work for the governor, the former chief she's at odds with is no longer there, and this is too indirect and not harmful to Palin in any way useful to her political enemies, not to mention the price to pay if it's unjustified as it goes through the system.
If we want to look for cases of inappropriate law enforcement pressures, we can look at the Alberto Gonzales US Attorney scandals. This is just one small, routine story now.
