http://www.foxtoledo.com/dpp/news/local/Wheelchair-wish-comes-true

The 54-year old, 500-pound diabetic patient had but one Christmas wish: to become mobile again, her wheelchair sitting idle in a corner, broken. Paula didn’t have the money for an expensive fix.

The situation left her unable to get out of her apartment to go exercise classes, so she can lose the weight doctors say may save her life.

I'm glad she's getting her wheel chair fixed, but I don't think you 'need' to go to exercise classes to lose weigh lady. Remember, your wheel chair repair likely came because some child won't be getting their Christmas gift this year. Make the most of it.

She needs to start dieting. Lose some weight and then start exercising.

he's working on his fear mongering, hateful posting skills. I'm pretty sure he's in training for "Troll of the year 2011"

I used to like the guy. Now I know that every thread he starts will be filled with hateful assumptions that have no backing. He's kind of like an emo spidey.

Err, what? I have very low tolerances for obese people, those individuals who've let themselves go to the point where they cannot move without mechanical assistance. Also, most links I post, I get from CNN. :p

ugh, our local fox station (the one in the OP) is by far the worst assortment of news personnel I have ever witnessed. Watching that news program makes me cringe.

Because of that, I never read their website. I figure, watching their news program is like reading our local newspaper (The Blade): both are cringe-worthy productions resembling a news medium.

Wasn't critiquing the Fox source, just the story they reported on. :p

Oh I know. ;)
I didn't even read the source, so I'm not critiquing that individual piece or their website.
I just despise their production values - feels like a college-level production.

Now, the Fox affiliate in Columbus has a high-grade staff, or at least they do something to appear that way.
In Columbus, all three of the big networks put on a seemingly equal quality news show. Here in Toledo, I refuse to watch anything but the local CBS affiliate - the others just feel, for lack of better words, cheap.

Even worse is the NBC affiliate here (NBC24) :D There's this blond woman that speaks like Porky Pig that hosts their morning news show. She tries to be outgoing and professional like the cast of the Today show, but she fails miserably. She also tries to improvise on her script...which turns out to make an incomprehensible sentence. A typical newscast from her sounds like:

"A in er' uh news locally some tragically killed children that were murdered tragically appeared in court...or the mother appeared in court today, rather, to face charges of tragically murdering her children."

I look up at the TV over my cereal bowl every morning saying "WTF did she just say???"
