So I've been making some purchases of audio CDs here in China from regular stores and not from the streets or anything. Will US customs have a problem with that if I bring them back to the US with me? They look real but being that I'm in China, I'm going to guess that they're not.

I've heard stories of people getting fined $1000 per DVD they brought in. It doesn't happen for everybody, of course, but if it happens for people with audio CDs, it'll be soemthing for me to think about.

I brought a 10-15 game/music/movie CDs back with me from the Middle East once, they didn't ask a thing.

i dont know. ive brought many cds back from china (of questionable authenticity of course) and the customs agents never searched my baggage. they pick you out randomly though and i have no idea if they're okay with it.

Even if they pick you out, they're more concerned with you carrying bombs or weapons than you carrying a few bootleg cds or dvds. Not that I'm condoning such behavior. Just don't bring back any knives, katanas, or other weapons.
