Did I miss something? Yeah, I often wondered why she got so much more coverage than anyone else who was kidnapped, but why is everyone here like...pissed at Elizabeth Smart? Jesus...you people are weird...

easy. she could have got away any time she wanted, the media felt the need to cram her down our damn throats 24/7, there was many other kids taken during this time and they were NOT on TV.

the reason she got so much media coverage is a) she was white b) she was cute c) she is from a wealthy family. if she was a black girl from downtown Chicago they wouldn't care. oh wait there was a girl from downtown Chicago that didn't get ANY media coverage.

The media just kept on about her. it got tiering. at the end i didn't really care that they found her. granted i was happy she was alive but i was more glad that it was finally over so i could stop hearing with her.

just wonder when they will have the Smart movie? sheesh.

Um...that would make you pissed at the media, not the girl.

It's not Elizabeth's fault she's white, cute, rich, and whatever else you listed. She didn't choose the amount of media coverage while she was fscking KIDNAPPED.

true she was just kidnapped and didnt choose it. But that does noe mean we have to like her. IM sick of her. I dont want to see her on TV anymore. i dont want to read about her. i dont care how she is doing.

You know, I think the people in this thread are very hypocritical. I can understand if you're tired of hearing about her (I am, too). But I'll bet no one in this thread bitching about the attention she's getting has ever gone through anything remotely close to what she's endured. Not saying she's the only one, not saying the media isn't giving her special attention over those who have gone through the same thing, but how many of YOU have been kidnapped?

Furthermore, if you WERE kidnapped, and came back home safe and someone offered you a couple million dollars to interview you for 15 minutes, don't for a damn second tell me you wouldn't take it. If you're tired of hearing about her, don't watch her TV programs. Don't buy the book. Don't read the news articles. It's not that hard. It'll die out eventually. But stop calling a 14-15 year old girl who was kidnapped and god knows what else a "bitch" or "whiny brat" because the media's giving her attention.

You hit the nail on the head with the parents. I'm pissed at the media about this just as much as the next guy. I feel the parents have contributed to all this by milking this for eveything its worth. Hell, they're even written a book about it.

Yea, if an Asian girl got kidnapped or any other race, you better believe they wouldn't be calling her America's Girl. They would have swept that under the rug. Oh and Jessica Lynch? What about the large black woman that was held captive too? She disappeared from the media like a fart in the wind! Media is so full of crap it is sickening.
