Bringing a PC on an airplane.

I built a PC for a friend of mine across the country, and rather than ship it to him, I decided to take it with me. It's packed in an antec box with foam and all. CPU/HSF are disconnected and yadda yadda.

My question arises from the fact that I didn't check to see if it was ok to bring a PC(or check it) on an airplane. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks!

Its OK if you mean luggage. But not carry-on.

They've been letting laptops on all this time. Those are PC's too.

Just make sure no wires are protruding and it doesn't have "BOMB" stamped on the box.

why go through all the hassle of brining it on the plane when shipping would be Much much mucho much easier? even through ups I'd rather put up $20 than deal with the airline and all the crap their going to put that case through.
And have you SEEN how they treat luggage? Its worse than UPS :p

What's the best shipping company?...
I usually used USPS, but will I save money using fedex or UPS?...

My buddies went to quakecon (Texas) one time from Toronto with 2 systems. Going there it was fine, coming back, they got hassled like mad and questioned by customs...Don't know the exact reason but I believe it was something about trying to smuggle in computer hardware without paying taxes...lol.

I wouldn't be surprised if you are forced to chekc it. After all you could open up the package and use the case panel as a weapon, pull out the memory chips and use them to slash people, etc...

Just take all the items out of their slots and wrap each individual thing in a bunch of foam and such. Then put them all inside the case and then wrap that whole thing up. Should be fine to just check it then.

Customs is retarded nowadays, my dad had to take out my Rebel XT when flying to germany and they actually gave it a thourough inspection because they thought it was something...explosive device maybe? I dunno

USPS is totally based on weight, so for light items they are good. UPS and FedEx use a combination of weight and volume, so its cheaper to ship a heavy item with them than USPS.
