Bring out your dot.com bombs! What's the worst investment you ever made (or seen someone else make)?

Okay, time to 'fess up. The dot.com boom and bust turned a lot of us investors into blabbering idiots buying all kinds of crap companies that never should have seen the light of day, much less shares bought in. So what was your worst stinker of an investment (or alternatively, your vote for the dumbest idea for a company if you weren't old enough to be an investor during the boom)?

FirstWorld Communications going going goooooooooonnnnnnnnneeeeeeee.

It was my first invesment into anything and boy did I eat alot of shiet on it...

Paying for a subscription to AT, it was good at the beginning, but I need a fix of the subscriber forums! 😛

<-- Currently going through DT 🙁

Ran a large website, got 10k people a day at peak

Went down when dot com bubble burst and advertising companies were going out of business, which happened to be when I needed a dedicated server for all the traffic...

As for money, my family never put much into the dot com bubble because my dad never had much faith in many of the companies.

Awwww, come on.... I know someone out there bought shares in something really, really crappy... no one who bought PerpetualGrief.com (the electronic pet burial company), or Yxes.tahc (the sex chat site for dyslexics)? How about EMUlate.com, which was an Australian site specializing in online ostrich auctions? Yes, that was a publicly traded company for a brief, shining moment.

I can't believe there was a site like Yxes.tahc. DAMN! What the hell were those VCs doing handing out money like that?

Lernhaugher and Hauspice (I know I didn't spell that name right). German company, speech recognition bought dictaphone, turned out they were cooking the books and got delisted. As far as I know the shares I had are completely worthless.

Who cares about what you lost...

Wait for the Google IPO and you will be rich 🙂😛 (if you can get in on some)
