So here's the deal. I've been flashing BIOS's for years, and never had any problems.

But just within the past 2 months, i've had FOUR different friends have bad flashes and need new chips (some of them just broke down and bought new mobos).

The thing is, they're all VERY avid computer users, who have all flashed before.

So, does anyone out there have any bad stories? with or without happy endings?

well, i have a horror story with a horror ending.

I had gotten a BX6 CHEAP, super cheap and was playing with it. My buddy asked if we could hot swap BIOS chips cuz he had a BIOS flash fail when the power went out. we get ready, he starts pulling the chip, put the new one in, were in the middle of a flash, and it crashed. Oh well, he put my chip back in, booted it up, and nothing happened. We couldnt figure out what was wrong. Then i noticed he had put the chip in backwards, argh!!! oh well...

haha heres one... ill do the short version

Flashing a KT7 Raid. Reboot. No post. I started to panic and reset the CMOS, and checked all the cards etc to make sure all connections were tight. Nothing. Now I'm panicking, this is my little brothers computer and hes looking at me with true fear in his eyes. I tell him we may have to send the BIOS chip back to Abit to get it flashed. The fear is replaced with anger. I smoke a cigarrette and decide to pop out the battery (clearing CMOS should have done the same thing). Try it, nothing. Now I'm pissed so I start to rip the CMOS chip out and smash it and just buy him a new board. As I'm doing that I get my ass shocked on the modem, its still plugged into the wall. So I figure I've got a dead mobo AND modem now, so i try to start it one more time. Starts up perfect, nothing is broken. I havent opened that case since :p
