Bring my DS to Jury Duty?

I've already decided on not bringing my cell phone, but I'm wondering if they would let me bring my DS in without checking it. I've heard stories of people brining in laptops and iPods to the place I'm going to, but I'm trying to avoid having to check any of my things so I don't have to deal with another line to reclaim them. Any thoughts/experiences?

No, but I don't want to be waiting on a bench for 5 hours with nothing to do until they call me in.

I am sure this wont be a problem, just can't use it in the court room.

They'll check at the door to make sure you're playing Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.

I dunno, in the courthouses around here you're not getting very far with any electrical devices. Might call and check.

It'd be a pity if security *held* it for you but then couldn't find it later. At the very least put your name on it with tape etc.

You can bring your DS just don't use it if you are called. DONT USE HEADPHONES!!! You wont be able to hear if they call your name!

Or just read a book

Aside from the fact that I'm not a big reading fan, I have to be comfortable in my surrounds to read any book or even magazine, otherwise I get fidgety and can't concentrate as easily. All I wanna do is play my DS in this waiting room they throw me into, no music, no headphones, no complications with getting to use it past the security checkpoint.

usually you are held in a room without any supervision and they dont care what you do in there, just dont bust it out in the court room during vor dire.

Exactly. Playing anything else in a courthouse is just rude. If they have a problem with it, just tell them it's training for jury duty.;)

Heaven forbid you pull the stick out of your ass. It's not like his post even excludes the possibility of bringing other forms of entertainment, in your case books. He merely asked about the rules surrounding a game system. Unbelievable.

When I was called about 12 years ago, during selection in the actual court room we weren't allowed to bring books, newspapers, anything. I'm not even talking about when you're up in the jury area and being questioned. The judge simply wouldn't allow you to bring anything to preoccupy you from the proceedings into the court room.

When I went in for jury duty, they didn't care about cameras/cell phones. People brought in Laptops, DS's, Ipods, etc...

You should be fine for playing it while waiting to see if you'll be selected for a jury. Obviously you don't want to play it during a trial but I'm sure you're bright enough to know that.

I was doing jury duty in June (Up here in Toronto) and I had a laptop there. Waited in the room and no one got called. 3 days of sitting in a room... good thing I had games on the laptop. I had my cell with me too.
