Brightness/Gamma problems when watching videos

Whenever I watch a movie on my computer (I've used both Winamp and WMP) the brightness or gamma (or both, I'm not really sure) gets really high, and it's blinding. I have uninstalled and reinstalled my video drivers multiple times, and it does not help. The strange part about this is that when I was editing a movie in Vegas Video, the video was normal and when I watch I clip from something that I used Fraps on, it too is normal. I am really confused at this point, as I have never encounter anything like this before.

Video Card: GeForce 6800 GT

Thanks for any help you can provide :/

I rendered a movie I was making uncompressed, and although it is 40GB large, the brightness and gamma are normal. If this is a compression problem, why is it happening to me now and never before, or is it the codecs? (I put the unrendered through VirtualDub and compressed it with DivX MPEG-4 and it had the problem :/)

Thanks
