This monitor is a little over a year old & is acting a bit strange . Don't know if the monitor is slowly dieing or not .

Up to date Nvidia , Monitor & Chipset drivers .
PNY 5600 Ultra ver.2 / 1280x1024 / 75hz

This happens randomly while surfing the net or playing games , does not matter .
The screen will fade darker , stay that way for a random time (1 sec - 10 sec) , & then slowly go back to normal brightness automatically , as if I was screwing with the Brightness/Contrast controls . Everthing else is fine . No Jitter , shaking , refresh rate problems , etc.

Also ............. There are no speakers or any other device near the monitor to cause this problem .

If anyone can give me some insight whether or not this is a defective monitor &/or if you've heard about this happening before would be great .

Thanks :)

Well, if you?ve ruled out the video card, things don?t look too good for your monitor. Never heard of that type of problem before though.

I have the same monitor (A90f) and fortunately I have never encountered this problem. Nor have I ever heard of others who have. The only thing that has ever been problematic was getting XP to pick up the .inf file that identifies my monitor, but even this is a non-issue for functionality.

Sorry I don't have any real info on your problem CorCentral. I wish I could help. Generally, I think these are great monitors, but yours is freaking out, assuming it's not a problem related to another component like the video card.

You don't have any program that fine tunes those type of settings do you? Like Power Strip (I *think* this program has that capability, could be wrong). If you have a 3rd party application that allows for fine tuning the video card and monitor, you should uninstall it and see what you get.

Also, make sure you have it plugged into its own power source, say, a single wall outlet, instead of a surge protector that has many other devices connected to it (even though this should not be a problem in theory it's worth trying -- I keep mine plugged into a surge protector that doesn't share with any other devices).

Otherwise, I would see about taking it back to the place you bought it.
