Brighter screen making my eyes hirt?

A few hours ago, i realised that colors aren't turned all the way up on my 19" ViewSonic G790. The RGB was 85/75/65. Now i turned it up to 100/100/100. The picture looks a lot brighter, but a LOT better. It feels like i bought a new monitor. But my eyes are really beginning to hirt. Could that be caused by the image being too bright? My contrast is also set to 100 and brightness to 50. But then again, i've been using the PC for over 10 hours today. I've done that before, but don't remember my eyes hirting like this.

the goal is to make the monitor approximately the same brightness as the surrounding environment. computing with the lights off = bad bad bad. turn on the lights, and make your monitor about as bright as the room is, and you should be fine, brightness wise.

CRT = eyes hurt.

LCD = eyes happy.

AFAIK it varies from person to person. Some say they can't look at an LCD for more than an hour with getting red eye.

Contrast 90, Brightness 37 to 60 depending on if I'm in Windows or gaming.

100/100, man, why not just buy a 6 cell maglite and blind yourself the right way? Guess it's morning, you could just stare into the sun.

If it hurts, don't do it. My mother told me that when I was three. It's always made sense to me.

of course it hurts! too bright=not good.
I was having the same problem, but since i bought a cheap ol' radiation protection, it works damn good.
It does relaxing your eyes a lot. But for the best results, just close your eyes and rest a bit for every 30 minutes..........

I have no idea what my monitor is set to! But I will tell you that for weeks I was getting crazy headaces about once a week, ushally after a long night of CS! I found that I needed glasses, now I own shiznit in CS ushally going 2-1 or 3-1 and sometimes 1-2 1-1 1-3 LOL, and I receive no headaces only thing I am thinking about doing is turning the refresh rate up past my 85 Hrz mark!
