The professor I have a test with today graduated from the same school I'm attending now in 1988. She mentioned recently that her tuition amounted to 1500/yr. This equates to about $2400 in today's dollars. My classmates and I were stuck for $11,600 for tuition alone. That's almost a five-fold increase. No wonder they don't mind leaving private business to take an academic salary, they could have had their students loans paid off in 2 months. But who would have needed any loans at all at that price?

For the record this is a Doctorate program at a pharmacy college at a state university in Michigan. I also realize that 11,600 is much less than a few pay each year. I'm just comparing to past students of the same school.

Have a nice day :)

Ya i know, and that's a lot. The three most expensive private schools here in Michigan are about in the low to mid 20's.

I wonder what they were paying in 1988? They're obviously not as suceptible to cutbacks in government funding.

undergraduates here pay about $1900/semester in-state tuition. granted, we're not even in the same universe as a good school, but still  for the price.

My $11,600 is in-state. I have some Canadian classmates who pay CAD$1,534,278, or US$22,000. Ok it's really CAD$27,300. Wow that joke is getting less and less funny with the current state of the dollar.

I pay ~5500 - $6000/year for tuition only. That is $4400 - 4800 US.

It's not in Canada. It is Canadians enrolled in a doctorate program at a Michigan school.
