Bridging Wireless Network

Here is the scenerio:
1. Cable MODEM model Terayon TJ 715
2. Linksys WRT54GS
3. 2Wire 1800HW

Explanation:
Used to have DSL before upgrading to Cable Modem, that explains the 2Wire. Joined a cable modem ISP which explains the Terayon. Purchased a Linksys to provide wireless in my home, upgraded to Alchemy firmware.

Home Network explanation:
Internet -> terayon -> linksys.

Software:
1. The firmwares provided by each individual hardware.
2. Firewall Builder for Linksys.

Question:
I would like to use the 2wire in an area where my wireless signal is weak. How can I do this?

I?ve checked many sites/forums, etc. with no avail.

You can check the manual but I would be VERY surprised if that router (2Wire) supports WDS bridging. If not then you either run a cable from a LAN port on the Linsksy and uplink the 2Wire device, using it as an AP only, or buy another product that will bridge. Either a WDS compatible device or Linksys AP that has a repeat function.

The WRT54GS will support client mode if you flash the router with 3rd party firmware. Two that I know that will do this are Sveasoft and DD-WRT.

Unfortunately non WDS bridging is typically proprietary. I looked at the original diagram wrong and thought the linksys was attached to the modem. Really doesnt matter but you can give workgroup bridging (what linksys calls client mode) a try. It might even work but I'd be suprised. There is no Wi-Fi interoperability pledge when bridging without WDS.

Buffalo Tech. 802.11g line and few of the Belkin's 802.11g line support WDS out of the box.

The Belkin usually can be found on sale/rebate for $20 - $30.
