note that you haven't seen a firestone ad in a long time but you've seen plenty of bridgestone. wonder how many people don't know its the same company?

All the people who know that it's the same company probably also know that there are precisely zero instances of a properly loaded and properly inflated Firestone tire blowing out. Not only that, but those people probably also know that blowouts do not cause rollovers, only moronic over-reactions to blowouts cause rollovers.

My family has never bought anything other than Bridgestone/Firestone tires and we've not once yet had a set of tires that failed to outlast the mileage rating. It's not Firestone's fault that people can't be bothered to check pressures or load ratings.

I mostly agree with you. Why, though, were all of the problems with one particular tire?

ford was underinflating them from the factory, and you know that no one checks their tire pressure.

i've got firehawks myself.

From the information I've seen, firestone was wrongly blamed.

Ford were the bright people who decided to underinflate tires from the factory and recommend a PSI for them that was way too low.

If you havent asked your mechanic lately, any tired underinflated is dangerous.

Why did ford underinflate them? To increase the theoretical towing capacity of the stupid explorer.
Let the truth be told.

Had the tires been properly inflated, there would not have been a problem except that the explorer would have had a lower towing capacity than its competitors.
And a tire blowout does not cause rollovers as stated above...

American media can be so blind and biased at times.
