And its still the OE tire found on the BRZ!

You've got to be kidding me.. ive had some bad tires on cars (oem firestone 2001 civic).. but this tire I don't know how it made past the testing period. Dangerous enough driving in the rain.. good luck when you hit snow on them.. more like nice knowing you.

Bridgestone in general is terrible. Hands-down the least sticky, fastest wearing tires on the market. It baffles me as to how they managed to get both terrible traction and treadlife in their Potenza and Turanza lines.

Also, they should consider making their tires round. Kumho and Hankook have better quality control.

Actually my bridgestone is holding up well as far as wear, better than a goodyear aftermarket. As far as stickiness haven't slid yet when its raining. I have luck on my potenzas too on my other car.

? OE tire choices are 99% dictated by the carmaker. Can't blame Bridgestone for providing what the customer wants.

The OE tires on my Honda are Turanzas are they're great. Relatively speaking plenty of grip and they're LRR which helps fuel economy. I put similar tires on my MIL's Civic a few months ago. I put RE-960s on our WRX and they're great too. I don't pay much attention to the traction/treadlife ratings as they don't seem to correspond to my real-world results.

Not a personal attack but if you're suggesting Kumho and Hankook are better than Bridgestone I'm not sure what to make of your judgement. Bridgestone and Michelin are generally regarded the best tire manufacturers.

But RE92s are terrible with one exception. Apparently the OE tire on the original Honda Insight was a special version of the '92 and was perfectly matched for that car.

Depends on the application, but I can't think of a Bridgestone tire I'd rather have over a Hankook tire when it comes to a summer peformance tire. The OEM Bridgestone Ecopia tires I have on the Prius are hilarious though. I know they're a LRR, but they make so much noise on any type of turn taken at a decent speed.

Funny that the Ecopias on the CR-Z tend to be OK. Maybe its just because you're trying to corner in a Prius :p

Kumho and Hancook not too confident with this tires.

Not gonna lie, its fun to try and corner in this thing. I can definitely see the reasoning on why the BRZ/FR-S uses the OEM tires they do instead of something with more grip.

My Maxima had Bridgestone RE92s on it IIRC. Absolutely horrible in the wet. I would never buy that tire again.

If the tire is going to not be round, anyway, why in the hell am I going to pay twice as much for a Japanese brand instead of Korean?

Bridgestone is terrible. I've worked on so many brand new cars with tires on them that should've never made it past QC at the tire factory, let alone gotten mounted on an expensive car. Oh look, this 60k car with four miles on it has vibration issues...I wonder what kind of tires are on it? The answer is invariably 'Bridgestone.'

My 3 has Turanzas and it makes me want to murder children. Not round. Not grippy. Not long-wearing. Kill yourselves, Bridgestone.

To be honest my bridgestone right now is very close to the wear bar never experienced sliding yet but I have to say I don't drive crazy. Just normal driving. I have 4 goodyear (almost new)100 miles on them, a take off from the same car model as mine ready to replace my bridgestones. I am confident that I will yield the same result as my bridgestone because the auto manufacturer chose these tires for my model car.

I will in the future keep a closer eye on bridgestone.

WRONG.. seems like every tire company has shit tires in their lineup. My RE070's that were on my Miata are amazing tires on the racetrack. Super sticky.. like your hands sticks to them once they are heated up.

They do make some fantastic tires but some of them have been pretty bad too, especially some of their OEM offerings. Granted, the tire I was referring to was new 10+ years ago so the tires the OP's Mom is riding on are probably a completely different construction. My wife has the same car and it came with Dunlops, which don't last long, and we have been running whatever Lexus puts on it with no trouble. Never had a single blowout.

 I can attest to this. That is a world class tire.
