Only way to get your tires if you're a Costco member. Super fast service and friendly. Can't go wrong really.

their selection seems pretty limited though (at least what they show online)

Costco only sell Michelin and BFG (part of Michelin). If you are looking for Michelin, they have decent deals, if you want the cheapest tires, costco is not the place to go.

Don't forget the coupon.

I'm getting the gf's corolla a set of bfg traction t/a T rated. 80 bucks a tire with installation and lifetime rotation -60 bucks. 280 otd after tax isn't a bad deal at all.

Not any of the Costco's I've been too. I don't get my tires there, but whenever I walk by the tire department, I never see them doing it by hand.

They are the best choice if you want Michelins especially if you're buying a set of four. My last set was the exact same price as Tirerack.com's price (after installation, mounting, balancing, disposal, etc), except there was ALSO an $80 off coupon, meaning the final Costco price was $80 cheaper than Tirerack, and I didn't have to mess around finding an installer or anything.

Their road hazard warranty only stays in effect if you have your tires rotated by a professional every 10 feet, so you can forget about that as a selling point.

I'm on my third set of tires from Costco in the last year and a half, on 3 vehicles. It's a great place to buy tires, I ordered them online, and saved me about 6% in excise tax. They fixed a flat for free, no waiting and told me about a bent rim I had.
Got new rim, they remounted the tire on for free, and disposed of the bent rim. They use nitrogen, and I told them I inflated with air at one time. They bled the air out of all fours, and refilled with nitrogen for free. Lifetime balancing, and rotation, and road hazard for free. And on top of that the occasional $20 per tire discount. Hard to beat Michelins, and the fairly inexpensive BF Goodrich, if you are going that route.

Get the executive membership, and get 1% off, or is it 2% all your purchases, except gas. Will pay for itself in a year.

last question - do they keep a good stock of tires on hand? i'm driving long distance next week, so i can't really wait for the online ordering to go through...i'll call them tomorrow and check i suppose.

No, the stock at all on my Costco's are very limited. I had to order my tires for my TL, but it only took 3 days.

Now is a great time to buy, because they have Michelin on sale until Dec 7. It's $60 off a set of 4 S & T rated tires, or $80 off H,V & Z rated, and light truck tires. You are suppose to have a coupon, but they don't enforce it.

Went with them on my old car and haven't had to get new tires yet on my new one. Love the lifetime warranty - got a punctured tire twice, took it to them and they replaced them both no questions asked. They'll also cover up and remove any nails/screws that you happen to run over for free as well.
