yeah, but is it necesary to connect any of the other bridges besides L1 to overclock...cuz i connected my L1 on my msi k7t pro2a and my default multiplier is 6.5 with 100fsb, and i leave my fsb at 100 and try my multiplier to atleast 7 and i saved and rebooted..then my comp wouldn't even post..only fan and power on. so i had to unplug the power supply then i plugged it back in and turned it on and it turns on but at default values and i look in the bios and it still has mult. at 7..
actually..da first time i did it..i did it at 8.5 and it didn't turn on but i unplugged and plugged it in and turned it on and went in bios and the values were still the same and then i just saved it and exited and it worked..and i went into windows and everything worked fine but when i shutdown the computer and then turn it on later, it wouldn't post again..and when it does..its either at default values or underclocked...i also connected the L7 bridges...and the L7 bridges work..and i connected the L1 the same as L7 but L1 dont work as well..so im wonderin if i have to connect anything else? i used a defogger repair kit to connect it.

my specs..
msi k7t pro2a 650mhz duron
256mb cas2
windows me
bios 2.4
radeon 64ddr

anything else u need to know?? well..thanx in advance for helping..:)

Dragon, I sympathize with you...I have the exact same prob.

I have a MSI KT7 Turbo-Raid w/ Duron 700

I was able to change my multiplier to x8 on my first try and boot up fine...after, when I tried to change to a higher multiplier, my system won't even POST...just getting power to fans and HDD. I can't seem to change the multiplier at all now and my system won't POST if I change the multiplier or the voltage.

The weird thing is that my friend and I bought the same MB/CPU combo from the same place at the smae time...he got the non-raid version of MB but the MOBO is exactly same otherwise. He is currently running at x8 and 111FSB very stable. I can't even seem to get my system to run stable at just the default multiplier and 105FSB...It seems weird that he has no probs yet I can't even seem to run stable @ 756Mhz

I have been desparately trying to get some answers from someone with no success....I will keep let you know if I find out anything...please do the same for me. You can find my thread below

Good luck!!! To both of us....

dragon and joeblo,
Since we don't have/know the mobo, we can't detail which bridges need to be manipulated in addition to the L1s.

But the rule is that "IF" the mobo and or bios are not able to reset default settings, then you have to use the alternatives detailed at our site...which include cutting/closing bridges/DIY dipsw's etc.

But "IF" the mobo does support resetting, then the first thing to check is whether the L1 bridges are really closed. Page 2 details how to do that using a multimeter for continuity checks between pins and the 1K resistors....correct pinouts etc are detailed so you won't damage the fragile L1 closing material by probing there.

It's also a good idea to raise Vcore by closing some of the L7 bridges...details at site.

That's the best we can do without knowing mobo details.

Joeblo,
Sorry for the ambiguous/misleading reply above. It sounds like we could help if we knew the mobo...but what we meant was don't know the resetting details that well of "any" mobo except A7V. So you'll have to do the circuits checkout as defined above.

As you've read other threads...lots of similar problems on the MSI.
