Hi guys.

I did a search and couldn't find anything on this topic so here goes...

I got a new PSU today. I went from a PC Power and Cooling Turbo Cool 425 (I messed up and purchased the wrong PSU initially as this one only has a 20A +12 rail. Still worked fine but recently I have had the computer crash on me when using the NV Goggles in Battlefield 2 or when playing some very recent games that put more stress on the video card like UFO Aftershock. I noticed this only occured when the heat was turned up in my room to uncomfortable levels. This PSU is rated for 50C but its quite possible that with my room temp being in the high 20s to low 30s when its heated that the rail is just under too much stress and fails to put out enough power. Details of what I got is in my sig.

Anyway I picked up an OCZ Power Stream 520 (30A +12 rail) and while I was cleaning my computer from the massive ammount of dust build up and having turned it on I noticed the fan on the bridge wasn't working. Everything else was.

Anyone have any ideas why this is? The fan itself has a connector that plugs into the Mobo directly. It seems obvious its getting power from the Mobo.

I'm assuming either the fan is dead or the Mobo is pooched. If not is there anything I can try?

Thanks guys.

P.S. Obviously my computer boots fine as I'm typing this but should I expect anything bad to happen with the fan on the bridge not working?

On this Mobo there is like 12 different connectors. Some I recognize but the vast majority I have no clue what they are for.

The PSU currently has a +12V 4 pin connector plugged into the Mobo and a 20Pin connector as well. That is all.

Am I missing something?

I don't have any fans atm. I'm looking around atm for a NB fan or passive HS solution but haven't found one yet in Canada. Still looking tho.

Think I should stop using the comp till then or am I somewhat safe? I'm not OCing.

Nah, keep using the PC. Most NB's don't really get that hot anyway (under normal circumstances). Most often, the fan is overkill.

You don't need an exact replacement. Just find a small fan and attach it anyway you can, I like to use a pointy sheetmetal screw because it will go into most anything.

Yea, that works for the short term....but failure is imminent. :(

Most motherboards just use a standard 40mm fan, which is often an easy replacement job. I've done it on several occasions.
