brick wall with my sempron 3100+ & chaintech znf3-250 ve board

Been testing my sempron setup for stability and so far, 270 mhz FSB is as fast as I can go on this board. I'm using some corsair pc3500 BH-5 chips, but no matter if I run it 3:2 or 5:4, the cpu just isnt stable at 21, or 272 mhz. It will run prime95 and superpi all day long (albeit a bit hot), but just doesn't like any FSB above 270. My cpu voltage is 1.664 in the bios display but set at 1.65 volts. Setting it at 1.7 volts does nothing to help the overclock. Memory is at cas 2.5

I'm going to drop it in my EPOX board and see how it runs in that one to see if its a board fsb limitation problem. Then I'm going to take my A64 2800 thats currently in the epox board and put it in my new DFI Lanparty 3 board to see how well it overclocks there.

Currently, my A64 2800+ chip is running 269 FSB, 2420 mhz on the same type of corsair bh-5 ram with the memory running at 440 mhz, cas 2.5. I had to go to work before I could try 270 FSB, but 269 fsb is stable with 8 hours of prime 95 and superpi running concurrently.

I hope to finish these tests tonight to get an accurate idea of how each board overclocks along with each processor.

As it stands, I have an 8500 (128 mb ram)in my sempron board that arrived yesterday (Thanks NCIRCLE, It rocks!!), and it plays UT2004 just peachy.

hi . i was following your other thread with intrest in how high it would o.c
i order 3100+ sempron a64 and a vnf3- 250 + 1 stick OCZ PERFORMACE SERIES. 1GB ddr 3200 . i was hopeing to hit 270 or 275 in 3x ht . my parts should be in monday. good luck.

did you test the mobo to see if 270 was its max?
just set the mem to 100 and the multiplyer to 4 and try it at 275
did you lower your HT to 3?

if it still crashes maybe it's the mobo htt max
if not than maybe your mem reached a max ... test your mem

prob your board or cpu since you tried running at lower mem/cpu ratio

I lowered the ram, my mem was set at 133, and i need to change the multiplier still. My htt is at 3.

It might just be the mem controller on the chip....

some are good... some are great... and some are awesome!

you may just have gotten a good one.. as 270 is still pretty impressive
