i mean, he didn't get hurt, his consecutive game streak is still intact. he didn't have a great season, though, and the last 5 games threw 2td-9int, though i dunno if that's the curse or not...

so, brett favre, did he break the madden curse?

He threw more interceptions than any other quarterback in the league by 4 and failed to take his team to the playoffs on one of the easiest schedules in the league. Curse stands.

True. To end the curse you have to have a successful season AND not get injured. Favre accomplished neither of those.

Because he was too busy making the front page of TMZ and People magazine...

I'd say the curse still stands - while he didn't get injured during the season its looking like he screwed up his shoulder this season.

A lot of players don't want to be on the cover for fear of the curse - LT turned it down last year when Vince Young got it.

He always leads the league in interceptions. The curse is about players getting hurt and missing significant parts of the season, it's broken.

but that's business as usual for Brett Favre.

it's not for no reason that he also holds the league record for most INT.

Tough to say...but I think he can qualify as cursed with his suddenly poor play at the end of the season. I think overall he was better than most people thought he would be though.

False. Curse applies to injuries only.

This

Favre is a gunslinger & with that comes lots of INTs

Played all 16 games and took a team that went 4-12 the year before to 9-7 in a completely new offense to him. Unfortunately for him he had a terrible last quarter of the season or they'd be playing this weekend... 12 weeks of decent ball playing doesn't get it done though. I think he broke the curse. Football's iron man > Madden curse.

Meh. I still love the fact that he was on the cover in a GB jersey and played for the Jets. While I can understand his desire to keep playing, he obviously did nobody a favor...well, maybe Pennington...by coming out of retirement.

What a weak "curse." I hear it thrown around all the time, but haven't really looked up the stats until now.

Eddie George (Madden 2001, 2000 NFL season) had a career year during his "curse" year.

Marshall Faulk (Madden 2003, 2002 NFL season) put up respectable numbers for an aging RB on a bad team during his "curse" year.

Ray Lewis (Madden 2005, 2004 season) and Vince Young (Madden 2008, 2007 season) had solid seasons missing only 2 and 1 games, respectively, hardly a "curse" for a starting middle linebacker and second year QB.

Apparently ~75% of the league are "cursed" every season based on these metrics.

It's not a curse, he's just old and can't play anymore. He should have retired with the Packers after a decent showing last year.

Yes, he'll always get plenty, but this is only the 3rd time he's led the league. Also, between now and 1993, he's only had 1 other season with fewer passing yards.
