After being sick it is amazing how absolutely wonderful the simple ability to breath easily through a single nostril is let alone both at the same time.

Its also good to know that the cold medicine I am taking is Gluten free as it says that in 3 places on the packaging.

Fun fact:

You can eat a healthy, gluten free diet without telling everyone else in the world about it.

I've tried to go glutton free, but it didn't take. Gluttony is just a part of me.

That's not how it works, rudeguy. In order to participate in a gluten free diet, you are contractually required to tell people about it.

Kinda like religion. :whiste:

I know I'd breathe easy knowing I'm not eating gluten. Gluten can clog the esophagus making it hard to breathe.

Gluten free is just another in a long long list of fads where some food or additive is identified as the root of all evil. Bunch of baloney, unless someone is truly allergic to gluten, which is fairly unusual. Many people say they are, but few actually are.

Wow - you must be parched from all that talking. Why don't you have a sip from this kool-aid I happen to have right here

Yeah! Facts be damned ;)

Here's a nice reasoned writeup on it: http://www.foodrenegade.com/the-rise-of-gluten-intolerance/

Supposed gluten intolerance has gone from 1 in 2500 people to 1 in 133 people, yet actual testing done in a lab to confirm such intolerance has not shown significant increase in the number of cases of actual confirmed gluten intolerance.

Everyone is (and always has been) looking for that miracle thing that can transform your health/weight or whatever other issues, when the fact is that a good balanced diet of limited portions is truly the only way.

As sure as the sun rises in morning, the gluten free fad will morph into something else soon and the cycle will continue.

Yes indeed. I'd say 1 in 150 (rough global average) is fairly unusual.

Feel free to remove your head from your ass at any time.

So what you're saying is that statistically speaking I can call everyone who claims gluten intolerance a liar and I'll only be wrong 1 out of 150 times? I may not even see 150 people who claim gluten intolerance in my lifetime, so there's a chance for a lifelong streak of 100% accuracy in calling out every single person who brings it up. Thanks for that information.

You think something that occurs less in less than .7% of people is considered "common"? Fairly unusual is a very accurate description.

Did I touch a nerve or something? Are you one of those idiots going around claiming that the gluten free diet is the wondrous miracle fix? Or maybe one of the idiots going around claiming to be gluten intolerant even though no actual testing has been done to confirm it?

1% of the population, just about. not terribly significant.

celiacs is a real disease. "Gluten intolerance" is nothing but FUD.

And there's a difference between telling someone "I have a gluten intolerance" and "I just went gluten free."

I still laugh at gluten-free talk, because (at the beginning of the gluten free craze) our local TV news once did a segment on a local bakery opening a separate, new "glutton-free" kitchen

The other anchors eventually corrected her and LOL'ed.
:p
