Breakthrough in Artificial Heart

Yeah and since it is new, they are unsure as to whether Medical Insurance will cover it.

But 4 extra months can become a few extra years as the technology progresses. That is a lot of time to spend with loved ones. 🙂

What we need are synthetic nanobot blood cells that can move on their own without the aid of a pump, and carry more oxygen than normal blood cells. That would eliminate the need for a heart or any kind of pump all together. Probably eliminate the need for lungs too if they could just sort of swim up to the skin to get oxygen. Then we could have similar machines clean our blood, eliminate other organs too.

They need to fix the gray goo problem with nanobots first.

I think using stem cell research to grow an actual replacement organ using the paitnets DNA is the way to go. No risk for rejection(it matches your DNA) which means no need for immune system supression drugs(which have very very very bad effects)

Also I think we should work on technology that would allow for the ability to download the human brain into a computer system. Coupled with advance robotics research "Ghost in the Shell" could be come a reality. Just watch out for hackers.

It could be a problem, but I don't think you can "fix" it before you develop nanobots as the solution would probably include using a kid of nanobot anti-virus.

Have you seen both Stand Alone Complex ghost in the shell seasons? There's supposed to be a season 3 as well.

I think the end result would be this...
