Did anybody just watch this? They said how he used a computer to do this, and I imagine it performed some complicated mathimatical operation/equation in a matter of seconds. Does anybody know what this equation would be?

I saw it. You're talking about cheating at keno, right?
that and blackjack

i'm just curious how you could calculate that
Are you talking about the MIT kids?

no, they just had a show about this guy who made some computer that calculated these equations if you inputed the cards into it via 4 buttons. The buttons were strapped to your leg, and then send vibrations into the players shoe. These signals varied, and told the player whether to hit or not etc...it looked pretty cool, but I imagine for that sort of accuracy, it needed a mathematical equation, and not just probability.

Oh sorry, I probably didn't see that one.

They just showed this with the worlds best cheater... he was never formally charged and took casinos for about 7-8 million.

IT was just a card counting machine. I'm pretty sure it just added the +1/0/-1 and sent the results to the person's shoe. BTW this show is awesome and I always want to take a 3-4 hour road trip down to Tunica, MS every time I see the damn thing. 😛

Oh, and Modeps, I have the last two on my DVR from today. There is an MIT one and one about a guy from the board who came up with some scam. Is that the one you're talking about?

The most amazing one was the guy that
hacked slot machines and calculated when they would hit

He made millions off some change.

Naw, he was just some average guy using sleight of hand techniques to replace his bet when he hit with a bigger bet. Then he decided it was too dangerous, so he'd stack his chips, nickles on top of chocolate ($5k) in a way that the dealer couldnt tell what the bottom chip was... then if he hit, he'd just leave it and collect... if he'd lose, he'd swap the 5k chip with a 5 dollar chip

you don't need a computer for blackjack, isn't it hit on 16, stay on 17. for poker you could use texas calculate 'em, which most people who play online a lot use

It has been proven that these computers definately calculate card probability much better than the human mind (common sense really). Then again, most of these shows are based in a time when single deck blackjack was still very common.

Modeps, I remember that one. I couldn't believe that guy and his friends actually got away with it.

In blackjack, what they do is help you calculate the proportion of face cards left in the deck. You don't always hit on 16.
