President Trump just called me. Still on phone. "We just pulled it," he tells me

And then

"I don't blame Paul," Trump tells me

Costa is a national political reporter for WAPO, so probably not lying.

If Trump just asked Ryan to pull it at the last second after pretty obviously forcing him to put it up for a vote at all, what an asshole. He makes Ryan look like his bitch and still saddles him with the hate of other House members.

I don't know if Trump has some new master plan, is trying to pull some sort of dominance game, trying to undermine Ryan, or just doesn't know what he's doing at all but it seems like that's a great way to make the speaker hate you.

There's probably a term for this, but he's inferring blame by stating he isn't blaming him. It's a psychological tactic to put the idea in the head of the person that there may be a reason to blame them. More than likely he (Trump) has also convinced himself of this.

He's a toddler who has gotten his way his entire life and couldn't imagine that he wouldn't get it this time.

He'll have fun watching FNC tonight. I'm seeing predictions of a civil war between Republicans and Freedom Caucus.

Yeah, that's how I took it too. "I don't blame Paul [but you should]"

I'll be interested to see what Ryan says at his news conference in a few. ie: are they officially surrendering on healthcare or are they doing something else?

Aaaaaaahahahahahaha, suffer, GOPigs. That bill was from the pits of Hell to begin with. I hope this is Paul Ryan's "Sad Mitt Romney at Dinner" moment. I love seeing evil people tear one another to shreds.

Yeah, I'm actually sorry I'm going to miss this because I can't even imagine what he's going to say.

Trump spends many months bashing the Washington Post and the NYT. Immediately calls reporters from both before anyone else for a friendly chat about the bill failing prior to Ryan giving his press conference.

Cuz he knows human nature is to give preference to the first side of the story heard.

He can be media savvy at times.

He's more media savvy than 99.9% of elected officials, easily. He learned how to feed them red meat and get them sitting on command years ago in NYC when he was a tabloid darling.

Though his interviews are frightening train wrecks but he knows most people aren't paying attention to those.

It is simply incredible that they can control everything yet do nothing. Also, this implicitly is admitting that Obamacare > GOP ideas right?
