They have been all over the place there, in the north defending the terrorist base along with AL-Ansar (?), and fighting in the south with Iraq paramilitary. We caught one with 5 Baath party members planning on blowing up the most holy mosque in all of Iraq, that pilgirmage would have been a totally different story if they had not caught them. The rest we have seen have probably been killed, but I wouldn't be surpised to see one or two in the POW's we still hold. I doubt EVERY one of them is a Iraqi soldier, probably quite a few different nationalities in that group.

I'll bet we've got Al-Queda in this country! Although they aren't hanging around with our politicians...yet... Its funny how they show up anywhere there is a fight.

From the North Eastern area

This was outside the Iraqi control zone - up near the Kurdish provinces.
Was caught in Western Iraq - near Jordan.
Fled Afganistan, went to Baghdad - where they amputated his leg.

Won't have a future as an NFL running back or kicker either.

"Sources said the individual is a member of a group operating in western Baghdad under the leadership of Abu Musab al Zarqawi, a Jordanian believed by the United States to have been the mastermind behind the assassination of American diplomat Lawrence Foley in Amman last October.

Zarqawi was said to have received medical treatment in Baghdad in May and June of 2002 after being wounded in Afghanistan during the war. His leg was amputated, U.S. officials say, by a surgeon in Iraq.

Before the war, Secretary of State Colin Powell pointed to Zarqawi's al Qaeda-affiliated group that he said was operating inside Baghdad, as evidence of ties between al Qaeda and Iraq.

Powell told the U.N. Security Council in early February that after al Qaeda and the Taliban were ousted from Afghanistan, Zarqawi established a camp in northeastern Iraq to train terrorists in using explosives and poisons. "

Western Baghdad was in Kurdish control? LOL
Baghdad was not as safe ANYMORE, but that's where they openly operated until we arrived....

Alot of people here owe Powell an apology, looks like there was some truth in his evidnece he submitted to the UN. Maybe this is the intelligence Bush said proved the link, looks pretty good to me, along with all the other Al-Queda killed or captured of course, especially the one with the 5 Baath party members, plus the documentation found by independent sources. Cant forget their terrorist camp, right where he said it was, complete with WMD recipes and dispersion manuals. He shoots, he scores. Nice of Saddam to make sure Al-Queda were given the best medical treatment while his own people suffered.

Another piece of the puzzle, coming together QUICK.

thats sure nice if they find some more of the bastards ... trouble is its pretty hard sell when you have physical control of a land and have lots of big guys walking around with lots of big guns.

it would do the US credibility a lot of good to have even some of the UN around to lend their voice even though i think they are otherwise scumbags who live off my tax money

Has anyone got any reliable numbers on the number of Al-Quaeda belonging personnel that have so far been identified within Iraq?

Cheers,

Andy

They say hundreds killed, the majority of them in the takeover of the terrorist camp in the north. There has to be some mixed in the POW's with other Arab fighters.
