Lol at the mahjong. Mine would be Cut the Rope Time Travel (the best looking 1080p game I have found).

HTC is shipping the phone unlocked
Link?

Level-based games drive my OCD crazy. If I can't figure out how to three-star a level I can't go forward.

Fortunately, my GNex couldn't really handle much real-time gaming anyway. Unfortunately, I no longer have that excuse.

There's no link, it's just common sense. It's already unlocked for other carriers, and HTC has a "vanilla" rom available on their website. They're not going to redo the phone's setup for one carrier. Even if they did, it would only be software changes, so it would be easy to undo.

Doesn't matter if its unlocked or not. On Verizon, its only going to work on Verizon. Sprint isn't going to activate a Verizon device on their network. Like being able to get a Model T in any color you want, so long as its black.

I have the VZW GNex and can definitely confirm atrocious battery life even with the extended. I don't even bother turning on 4G continually as it basically renders the phone unusable. How something like this could ever be released as fit for public use is beyond me.

Which is basically why I'm debating buying the GS4 or waiting to see what Apple comes up with next. The One can be added to that debate now I suppose.

honestly after having the vzw galaxy nexus , i kind of side with verizon on it.

some of the leaked roms that google submitted to them i flashed and they were horribly buggy. even some of the ones that passed would cause the phone to reboot sometimes.

other phones of the same generation like the bionic / razr non maxx, that also used omap4s didnt have nearly as bad battery life, so i suspect the aosp nexus rom's arent very optimized for battery life either.

In other words, you're engaging in wishful thinking without looking at the facts.

Verizon hasn't released a bootloader-unlocked subsidy device since the Galaxy Nexus. Yeah, that was 2011. Unless Google negotiates with them for another Nexus or the FCC intervenes, they'll probably never release one again. (FCC is why all of Verizon's devices have been *SIM* unlocked.)

Last year's DNA was worked around pretty easily through HTCDev because Verizon didn't close that loophole before release. But note they did after! HTC doesn't have to change squat -- they just have to not give out the keys via their website, as Verizon made them refuse to do for the DNA. APQ8064T can be locked down pretty tight, and with months and months to close any loki-style hole, you guys may be stuck for a while waiting for Dan Rosenberg to pull another rabbit out of his hat.

Amazed so many of you put up with the terrible battery on the GNex. Droid Razr Maxx seems like a better choice for most of you.

Fine. If you want to think it'll be locked tight and completely unchangeable, go ahead.
