Breaking News: Firemen save mouse

Fireman raced to the home of a young woman who called up in tears because her pet mouse had got its head stuck between the bars of its cage.

Elfrida Schuster, 21, from Hamburg in Germany called the emergency fire brigade number in a panic to explain that her mouse was suffocating after getting its head wedged in the bars.

The fire brigade responded by sending out a special emergency team.

A spokesperson for the Hamburg fire fighters defended the action saying: "Saving both human and animal life is our duty."

Wait until she gets the bill. 😀

Maybe then she will realise she just wasted her money for a pointless call when she could had done it herself.

Dude, this is in Germany. They won't bill her. Everything is free (ie paid for by everyone being taxed out of their mind).

I guess someones sarcasm meter is broke. 🙁

Our local volunteer fire department would have responded, too. And applied the jaws of life to the cage.

In the past, when they've gotten the classic "Cat up the tree" calls, they've actually cut down the trees (or been proceeding to do so when the owner thought better of it and got a ladder of his own)

lol

Your local VFD sounds like it's staffed by pricks 😛

The one near me would probably ask for mutual assistance (in laughing), and then use one of the bucket trucks. They like to play with toys.

Actually, most of the weekday guys are under 30, and have entirely too much fun.
