There was definitely some chatter about Sanofi and Novartis but not much to back it up. The real issue isn’t so much Trump owning an insignificant chunk of stock in a drug company—the issue is Trump exerting undue pressure over the CDC and FDA to fast track an unproven treatment and then praise its efficacy without any science to back it up.

If we want to address profiteering, the bigger issue is Trump and his cronies diverting PPE from States that ordered and paid for it, while at the same time Republican fundraisers launch fly by night companies that suddenly have an unlimited supply of PPE to sell back to the states at higher markup. That needs investigation.

Jeezus, man. I don't know what to tell you. The man donates his salary and his net worth has gone down since he's been in office. Yeah, he's really profiting from being president... You go boy! ;)
He's made back his salary and more by golfing and stays at mar-a-lago on the taxpayers dime.

Sorry for the repost!! The search function did not bring this subject up for me when I used it...sorry!!
I will instruct the mods to close or merge!!

Figures!! People can use this drug and die as long as I make a handsome profit!!
Naturally they have already came out and called the article "false" news!!
It makes me angry to see how people cannot open their eyes and see how vile and decrepit this shit stain of a human is on our society!

President Donald Trump reportedly owns a stake in a company that produces hydroxychloroquine, the anti-malaria drug he has repeatedly touted as a coronavirus treatment even though his experts say there’s no strong evidence it works.

Trump “has a small personal financial interest” in Sanofi, the French drugmaker that makes Plaquenil, the brand-name version of hydroxychloroquine, The New York Times reported Monday.

In addition, Sanofi’s largest shareholders include a mutual fund company run by major Republican donor Ken Fisher, the paper said. Trump’s three family trusts, as of last year, each had investments in a mutual fund whose largest holding was Sanofi, according to the Times. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross also had ties to the drugmaker, the Times reported.

Trump’s “assertiveness” in promoting the drug contrary to the recommendation of top health experts “has raised questions about his motives,” the Times noted.
So now you are into reposting of clickbait and very misleading "breaking news".

Do your research and don't follow the media. Also, democrats blocked this news from mainstream media if your willing to look.

.
No, it wasn't. That is a basic science paper, by no means confirming clinical applicability.

There are trials underway, some early results are positive, some negative.

To imply that there's any highly quality evidence on the benefit of HCQ in Covid is bullshit. Don't spread bullshit.

Not to mention people have died self medicating that stuff.....
Self medicating yes. It’s an anti-malarial drug. Anyone without a medical degree who thinks they can Medicate themselves with a prescription drug like this is an idiot.

Also, read the article. Plaquenil works. I disagree with trumps azithromycin stance.

You clearly don't understand the difference between basic science research and clinical research.

I assume you've read all the current clinical trials of HCQ? No? Of course you haven't.

Shamelessly stolen from the ACP so I don't have to summarize:
Chloroquine & Hydroxychloroquine

Chloroquine is an immunomodulant drug. Prior studies on SARS-CoV demonstrated that it can block the SARS virus infection by reducing virus/cell fusion26. It is primarily used to treat malaria but has also been shown effective in reducing viral replication of SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV25.

For SARS-CoV-2, early in vitro data suggest effectiveness in reducing viral infection26. Our understanding of safety and efficacy for use in Covid-19 is under evolution; QTc prolongation with torsadogenic potential is a known risk of each medication, and the risk for use in patients with a critical illness such as Covid-19 that is often accompanied by electrolyte abnormalities has not been assessed74. Nonrandomized early observational reports suggest benefit31, but controlled trials are equivocal: a prospective controlled clinical trial of hydroxychloroquine with 30 enrolled patients demonstrated no clinical benefit over usual supportive care41, while a randomized parallel-group trial of 62 patients (non-peer-reviewed) showed shorter time to clinical recovery (without a measured mortality endpoint)60. Safety data and data from high-quality clinical trials are urgently needed25. Clinical trials are ongoing and may be accessed at clinicaltrials.gov , including a post-exposure prophylaxis trial.

An American Thoracic Society‐led International Task Force suggested that hydroxychloroquine be used on a case-by-case basis for hospitalized patients with pneumonia; they made no suggestions for or against use in outpatients or in hospitalized patients without pneumonia68.
The ACP is providing this comprehensive (and pretty awesome) resource to non-members for free, so feel free to educate yourself.

After that, you may want to take a look a look here

The reason why Trump is pumping this thing is because he desperately wants it to be true to save him from his own failures.

He is stealing from the country on a daily basis but I don’t think it’s based on this.

what do you think a clinical study I linked is? It’s obvious you don’t have a medical degree by your comment or an understanding of biochemistry. Sheesh. Everybody can have their own OPINION on the matter. I posted the science behind it. I could care less about the politics involved. I work the front line of the covid crisis and see patients every day. Your opinion about clinical proof to me shows bias in your remarks. I wonder what the world would be like if only people educated on the matters at hand we’re allowed to respond to crap like this. If that were the case, this thread wouldn’t exist, and if it did, I would be the only person in this thread.
im done here. You are not worth my time and energy. Shoot me a PM and when I have time I’ll provide you links to my medical degree and status if you like, because I’m sure your next question will be the validity of my medical degree.

Mar 20, 2020 · Fauci said he does not recommend going to the doctor and specifically asking for medications such as chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine — originally used to combat malaria. Hydroxychloroquine,...

TheVrolok spanked you with his reply!!
You sealed your coffin with a remark like this. Shows your arrogance and entitlement.
sealed what?? TheVorlock spanked you with his reply --

If you want clinical applicability look into malaria research with uncoupling of porphyria rings and how covid attacks it. Then look into hospital use in New York with IV plaquenil use.
All the garbage about clinical trials....no clinical study argument is totally irrelevant because plaquenil has already been shown to protect the porphyrin ring, and covid has been shown to attack it. Want me to put it in another way? Viagra was initially a drug for blood pressure and the side effect was errections. Phenergan was not meant or developed for nausea, does a great job treating it though. There are no clinical studies because covid is here now. But for peoples argument sake lets delay treatment do the clinical study (which most clinical studies take years) and let thousands of people die in the meantime. You think covid will go away? You’re wrong. It will be back when flu season starts in 2020 this fall

Nothing I have said or linked is “bullshit” like you mentioned.

lastly, leave Trump out of it. I already said I could care less about the politics regarding him. I’m more interested in helping people live.

This seals your ignorance on the subject for me --- this one statement that you made -- "All the garbage about clinical trials..." --

Have a nice day!!
