Not everyone dies... half the people have died so far from bird to human mutation... we don't know what it's like from human to human mutation...Originally posted by: Ryan

I think you're failing to understand that the people who catch this strain don't get out of bed - they die in their bed.

I'm sure some healthy people will die from it, but for the most part the folks that will die will be the young, the old, or the people with already compromised immune systems.Originally posted by: Ryan

sao123 is correct.
This isn't just some flu that is going to make people sick. This is a flu that could possibly wipe out millions: Your wife, father, mother, grandmother and grandfather, your precious little baby, and YOU could possibly fall victim to this deadly virus.
And god forbid if iut starts mutating and we can't find a cure.
god help us all.![]()
Healthy immune systems are what this "pandemic" attacks. It turns the healthy immune system against itself, so the stronger the immune system, the worse off you are.Originally posted by: gigapet

yes ppl without well estabilished immune systems, small children, the elderly etc.....
healthy adults dont really have to worry.
Few people know the extent of the 1918 Flu epidemic. It killed more people than World War One - you know, the war where millions of men died charging machine gun nests?Originally posted by: sao123

It aint about never getting sick... its about sirviving the next big mutation like the spanish flu. Its coming and it will kill millions. It may now be the Avian Flu, but there will be a pandemic in the future, and scientists believe it will be soon. It was almost SARS, whats next?
A few links are forthcoming. I read them last week and need to find them agian.

A Pandemic flu is a VERY scary inevitability. When it comes, you better hope it doesn't come to your neighborhood.
FYI - The "Asian Bird Flu" kills 60% of the people who get it. It's a bit non-intuitive, but if a slightly less virulent strain comes along, we are in serious trouble. Less virulent strains may kill a lesser percentage, but the ironic result is that more survivors are walking around giving it to other people - hence an epidemic breaks out. I heard that if someone gets it and manages to pass it to approximately 40 people, this thing will not be containable and will have to run its course.
"Run It's Course" is a euphemism for fvcking things up for a whole lot of people.
As I said, it's an inevitability. The health authorities are as on top of this as their budgets allowed. The media is feeding off this and hyping it up.Originally posted by: gigapet
Just sounds like typical media scare tactics to me. I'll believe it when i see it.

Is this Asian Bird Flu going to kill us all? Maybe yes but probably no. However, it WILL happen.
