Can we all agree that there is one thing you probably don't want to do with a brand new car?

Take it right out on a long highway run on cruise control...hours of droning along at 65...

Yep. You may as well let it idle to break in. Terrible idea.

From the 2011 Traverse manual:

Starting and
Operating
New Vehicle Break-In
Notice:
Avoid making hard stops for
the first 322 km (200 miles) or
so. During this time the new
brake linings are not yet
broken in. Hard stops with
new linings can mean
premature wear and earlier
replacement. Follow this
breaking-in guideline every
time you get new brake
linings.

I think this is one of the most important steps and the one that is least followed.
