Breaking a software RAID mirror

Can I break a mirror? I want to break the 2x Mirror I have on my OpenSuse box and pull some data off it... can I do that easily? I will be connecting the drive to either a Mac or Windows box... depending on what software I find to get the data off...

It's easy to break a Raid mirror - a much, much better way is to copy the data off to an external drive while the raid is still running
