Breaking a Lease

I've been at this apartment for maybe two months and its pretty crappy. What usually happens when people break leases??? Its a one year contract that I would be breaking.

Check the lease you signed. Usually it will cost you a few hundred to get out of the lease.

What is wrong with the place? It wasn't noticable before you moved in?

Don't expect the next apartment you move into to give you a good rate and accept you with open arms if you break this lease.

not true.

i broke my lease for my first apartment up here in nova and the second place i moved into didn't even care that i broke my lease... i made more than enough to keep two payments going if needed.

just read teh fine print. the place i broke my lease w/ had a stipulation that if i broke my lease i would have to continue paying rent until they found someone sign a new lease for my same room. i ended up finding someone for them and getting out with in two days... so i never had to give them any extra... plus there was a 500 dollar lease break fee.

Well I had been in some of the other apartments in this complex before and they weren't too bad so I didn't bother checking it out before I signed. Plus I was in a rush to find something fast and was afraid I would miss out on it. The kitchen and bathroom are whats really crappy. The stove tops are crooked and a pain in the ass to cook anything on. When you open the cabinets, bugs scatter. It's just a dump basically.

Sometimes they will work with you and ask you to wait until they find a new rentor or forgive you if you find someone else to rent the place for them.

check the lease. also check local laws there might be something that will allow you to break it.
