breaking a car lease

Last august i entered into a lease for an accord v6 coupe... the car is amazing, ive had no problems with it and it runs really smooth, however I will be moving into manhattan and was wondering how I could get out of the lease without paying the lease termination fee. i found swapalease.com but how legal/liable will i be held?

mat

if ur gunna flame or say some stupid, u need not apply.

Join the Army and get sent to Iraq or Afghanistan. Laws permit deployed soldiers to get out of leases without the termination fee. 😉

As one who has been here in Kuwait for six months with the Army, and still has six to go, I would argue otherwise. You'd MUCH rather pay the fee. 😉

Sell it private party and pay the difference owed. Call your leasing company to find out what the payoff is on the lease. Hopefully, you aren't too upside down in it.

Hey, he asked for solutions. How am I to know he wouldn't enjoy the chance to visit other nations and kill people? 😀

Did you talk to the dealership and let them know you are moving out of the area? Maybe they will break it for you... Or just take it with you and continue the lease... WOn't have to worry about going over the miles...

He's as upside down on a car like that as the titantic. Moving to another area won't let you out of the lease either.

You'll need to pay the termination fee or do one of those lease swap things. Either way you'll be out a good chunk of change.

Your only option is to sell the car privately. Just call Honda motor credit, get your payoff amount and try to sell if for that. If you can't get what you owe out of it, you will have to make up the difference. If you try to just "end the lease" with some other method, it may very well show up on your credit record as a "voluntary reposession" (sp?). The key word there being the one I can't spell, repo!

Some companies would let you get out of the lease if you're buying a more expensive vehicle from them. Otherwise, I don't think you can.

i'll be keeping the car, thanks for the help

From what I understand, I bet that the early termination fee will be less than a few months of parking fees........heard parking is ~$400/month in Manhattan. Dasm!
