Do you prefer generic or name brand breakfast cereal? I've found that I prefer the taste of most generics over the name brand stuff. Also, name your favorite cereal and if it's a generic, give the generic name too.

I like Cap'n Crunch, but prefer the Malt-o-Meal generic called Berry Colossal Crunch.
 
i prefer the taste of the brand name stuff, but the generic brands are almost as good, and way cheaper (unless you find brand names on sale) so i usually buy generic brands
 
Definitely generic. Less sugar on it usually, so it tastes a little better.

Some processed grains are treated exactly like sugar to your body.

I'd have to check the validity of General Mill's claim, but their cereal is whole grain.
 
i LOVE cereal. I could eat a box each day, and although i am not picky, i can definatly taste a difference in store vs brand name.
The only generic cereal i like is the captn crunch knock off from Kroger!
 
Generic and some name brands taste the same...for example honey nut cheerios and the generic cheerios at HEB by malt-o something tastes just about the same....but the good stuff with fiber and true whole grain products cost more. I always look for coupons for name brand products and usually turns out cheaper than generic cereals because I rarely see any coupons for generic products.

I agree, Rogue. Save $$$ and I think it tastes better. :thumbsup:
 
Most "generic" brands are made alongside name brands. Most are exactly the same thing mnus the packaging.

Maybe a lot of it is that way..but there is a pretty big difference amongst many of the generic brands and name brand cereals.
 
I like only 2 cereals:

Generic Raisin Bran (bigger and more of them raisins, and the flakes are better than kellogs or Post's)

Kellogs Mini wheats - brown sugar

Honourable mention: Wheatabix.
