I thought the movie was very good. The question you have when you leave is, how much was real? (go to spoilers section to see which things I question) You already know he did it, but the best part of the movie is how they build suspense around every other character in the movie. At one point or another, you basically question everyone else other than the head FBI lady (played by Laura Linney) at some point in the movie. I think what I got out of the movie was his possible motives for it and an idea of why it was so hard to figure him out at first.
I didn't have a problem with that last scene, btw, and there's nothing wrong with mentioning it because you see it in the previews.
SPOILERS!!! DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN!!!
I question:
Did he really lead the task force to find himself?
Was he really that religious?
Did he really tape him and his wife having sex? I expected during the entire movie that they would find out that his postings on porn forums were code for his Russian counterparts. Also, I thought the whole thing where he talked to women suggestively was a facade so that they wouldn't question when he made the postings. Finally, I thought they would find a secret message on that tape. Am I the only one?
