Ok, I am a bit concerned. Idk about anyone else, but I have a free aol email account. It is fine, aside from the ads it automatically tacks on to sent emails. But there is another thing I have noticed. Very often, when I login, I get an email from aol spamming god knows what. This is only when I sign in. It seems like a very shady thing to do, send me an email whenever I sign in to the service. That is morally wrong IMO. Anyone else notice this/comment on it?

i stopped reading there.

AOL = ad based... so of course they're going to send you ads.
it's a simple bot that probably monitors logins and sends mail upon login.

nothing 'fishy' there.

don't like it? there's a million other free outfits, like google, out there

"morally wrong?"

I guess I don't know what morality is. What does the timing have to do with anything?

Do you work for a company? do you use a computer there to log into a network? guess what.. they know when you log in, what you do on your computer, and when you log out.

Do you have an ISP at home? They know when you're on the internet. They know when you're checking email. They know what websites you visit.
