Brazil judge orders U.S. citizens fingerprinted

"I consider the act absolutely brutal, threatening human rights, violating human dignity, xenophobic and worthy of the worst horrors committed by the Nazis," said Federal Judge Julier Sebastiao da Silva in the court order released on Tuesday.

this is in response to the US plan to fingerprint persons entering the US from other countries for security reasons.

BRASILIA, Brazil (Reuters) -- A Brazilian judge furious at U.S. plans to fingerprint and photograph Brazilians entering the United States has ordered Brazil to do the same to U.S. citizens, police said on Tuesday.

SO I assume therefore that he considers his own actions to be absolutely brutal, threatening human rights, violating human dignity, xenophobic and worthy of the worst horrors committed by the Nazis?

What a fvcktard to say that!

Well they have just much right to protect their country as we do.

Yes but we are acting in the interest of security, they are doing it because they don't agree with our policies.

It's childish and spiteful, but still it's not that big a deal. It's a hassel for US citizens, but if you don't like it you don't really have to go there. It's not akin to being shuffled into a gas chamber, however!

Note to self:- Use the non US passport when travelling to Brazil. 🙂

But talking about childish look at how countries behave in trade wars. What bothers me is that how 1 judge can pretty much tell the govt. what to do not to mention get broad audience in US.

Yup, he's a friggin rocket scientist. If that's any indication of the intellect of Brazilian federal judges it's no wonder they have so many problems down there. At least we confine our retarded judges to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals where they can be overturned regularly.

His decision will be overturned eventually. It's just spiteful and stupid. Places that depend on tourism are already trying to have this idiocy removed and forgotten quickly. You can see how big idiot the guy is from his own comments, as highlighted by AntaresVI, above. Such a corrupt country, and they get offended that easily. It's funny. Judges are the worst class down there. For the police, who are poor ignorant people with 4th grade education that get a $100/month salary are corrupt, you can find explanations/excuses for corruption & criminal behavior, but judges usually come from rich families and have a top-notch education.

I think this whole fingerprinting/taking photos system should have been passed by the U.N. to be done by all member countries a long time ago ...

I agree..

I'm not sure about this.

It might be one of the stupidest things that bush has done, and two very stupid things doesn't necessarily make it the smartest thing. 😀

(it is very stupid because it will discourage tourism - personally I'm not interested in getting into other countries database and I would imagine there will be many foreigners who feel the same way and not just "terrorists", especially regarding getting into the US's database).

so what are the Americans gonna do with the fingerprints and photos? Then they would know for 100% who flew a plane into WTC? That's useful in WHICH way? The crash would still have happend.

For those who approve this measure, why should foreigners be subject to this and not foreigners as well as anyone already in the US, ie citizens?

Well, if anyone would know about Nazis it would be some old judge from South America since that is where all the Nazis flocked to for sanctuary after they lost WWII.

Most of the tourists to the US are in the 28 countries exempt from the fingerprinting laws. For those with money who are not from an exempt country I suppose it could hurt their desire to come to the US, but I'd personally not care if I was from one of the other countries. I have nothing to hide, and it's their country - so why should I care if I'm in the US's person-tracking database?

it is not all foreigners, just those that come from countries not willing to increase their security.

I love it when someone says someone did something really horrific they compare it to Hitler and the Nazis. Isn't there some other time in history that someone has done a one-up on Hitler? I'll have to do some searching myself..... I just think the Hitler card is just a lazy answer.
