Well, he certainly proved us wrong!

Now if only every single Iraqi could get 100 troops and 5 helicopters like he did, then Iraq would indeed be safe.

with the troop surge on one side and civilian casualties on the other, isn't that where we're headed to?

suddenly it all makes sense!

I'm not overly impressed by McCains feat but really Martin there is not one article or story on that site and I looked at several that are not basically very liberal and/or very antibush.

How do you really expect to have an accurate picture of anything when you depend on these types of sites to inform you. they are very one sided and very biased.
I do hope you at least make an effort to balance them?

I think McCain would have been if he had 'streets that the average Iraqi can walk down safely' and gotten away with it.

But let's face it, no one in the military is going to let a Senator and possible President walk down any street without enough cover to make sure he is safe.

Wow---what courage---and it only took helicopters and a hundred body troops----and for a whole 3600 seconds---and that proves Iraq is now safe?

Not only do we have a thread on this forums stating violence in Baghdad is down but the death toll for Iraq as a whole is up 15% over last month, but we also have to realize that the average Iraqi has to use those same streets, use the same markets 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year for four long years to even get to a 4% chance of violent death.

believe it or not, the northern part of iraq is fairly safe for americans to walk the streets. of course the kurds have formed their own govt, border security and economy with virtually no assistance from the US (they still arent officially recognized). ironically enough the biggest current threat is the turkish military and not internal forces. hmmm, one would think there is a lesson to be learned there.

100 soldiers + 5 helicopters means the street isn't safe, and even McCain doesn't believe his own propaganda. What don't you understand about the secuity assessment, John?

Looks like you are one of the people who believe his bullshit

His little journey could have gotten soldiers killed

Your brain is big enough to read the whole article, right?

100 troops and 5 helicopters had to escort his arrogant ass... maybe he should take that walk with just a couple friends since he thinks it is so safe around there ...

he needlessly endangered soldiers' lives to make a political statement.

that disappoints me. luckily no one was injured.

I'd be more impressed if it was Cheney who did it at a fast jog smoking a cigarette and eating a Big Mac.

Oh sure, "Baghdad is safe to walk through" he said as he wore his triple layered kevlar vest surrounded by 100 heavily armed army soldiers, 3 helicopters orbiting over his head, and with 10 snipers providing cover fire.

I was interested to learn more about McCain when he first stood up to the administration on issues regarding torture and the Geneva convention. Unfortunetly, he folded on the issue. This is just one more reason why I'm uninterested in a McCain '08 ticket.
