Bravely Default

We don't have a discussion thread for this, so I'm starting one.

I've put about 50 hours in so far. I really enjoyed Chapters 1-4. Then I hit Chapter 5 and realized why everyone craps on the 2nd half of the game. I will probably finish the game this week, but my enjoyment stopped at Chapter 5.

Not really. You just arbitrarily stop mid game chapter 4 and never get an ending sequence or anything?

Main game isn't done until you see end credits, "The End", and get New Game+

Yeah just...nvm. I won't try to explain my thought process through those comments and how wrong they were.

Well this thread just totally bummed me out. I picked it up this weekend and have spent a good amount of time so far. Not liking the thought of future disappointment.

In the interim, my Nintendo ID is 0275-8627-9397 if anyone wants an additional Mii to help rebuild.

Pretty much every review said as much. I played the demo and the demo did nothing for me so I skipped it. It's available digital so if I really want it later, I don't have to worry about out of print.

Still good. Just end game gets unnecessarily tedious.

Then again I'm OCD about stealing items from bosses so it took me forever.

25% chance but fails to steal 20+ times in a row? Somebody failed math on the dev team.

I finished the game last night. Chapters 5-8 were pretty pointless to me, but I had already leveled to 99 in Chapter 4. I ended up having to grind out an extra job and some gear money for each character to make the final few bosses easier. Other than that, I had the encounter rate at -100% for the entirety of Chapters 5-8. I will still play the sequel when it comes out. I really enjoyed the game until the last 5 or 6 hours. BTW, the final movie uses the gyro sensor, which was pretty cool.

What do I play next? I've only had a 3DS for a month or two, and I've played Zelda: ALBW, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, and Bravely Default.

How was Dream Team? I was on the fence about that one but decided against it.

It was fun, but it gets repetitive. I put about 30 hours into it. It's a good mix of RPG and light platforming, with some puzzles and a battle system that requires active participation. I'd recommend it to Paper Mario fans.

Luigi's mansion is very good. Mario 3D land is good.

I liked Paper Mario on the Wii but that's the only one I've played.

This.

Quite simply, if you're looking for a deep, meaningful RPG experience, Fire Emblem Awakening is one of the best out there.

I'm not even too big a fan of of strategy RPGs, but the great characters, story, and pressure (in a good way) of knowing that when characters die, they're dead for good added a whole new dimension of tension.

Got through chapter 5 last night and now I see what the complaints are about. The main reason I hate MMO's is the repetitive nature and this game gives it out in huge doses after 40 hours.
