have this D-link cable modem, i installed drivers that came with it

recently i renstalled XP, first thing i did was install latest Nforce 4 drivers
now my network adapter says nforce networking controller instead of d-link as it would if i installed its drivers

my question is, would i be better off not installing the nforce networking and use my d-link drivers instead or does it matter, i'm not sure atm if my connection is any worse or better but i dont understand how my modem is working without its normal dlink driver

I think that you are confusing Cable Modem with network card.

You probably got a Modem + D-Link Network card to install in your computer.

Cable Modems do not need Drivers, so the Drivers go with a card.

You cannot use D-Link drivers for on a board NVIDIA Network Card, you must use the NVIDIA drivers.

Basically, you can use the On board card.

If it would not work, it means that your Internet service is authenticating with the D-Link card. (How to Fix Cable/DSL Internet authentication (password).

If you do not have a Router you have to call your ISP and ask them to change the MAC number of your logon from the D-Link to the one on the Motherboard (How Do I Find my IP and MAC Numbers?

i dunno bout a card less its inside my dlink modem cuz thats all i have and i have no internet connection unless i install the dlink drivers which is now replaced with nvidia's and doesnt say d-link anywhere in devices

other than that i have no clue what you said, i know little if anything of networking, i was just asking if the nvidia driver is just as good as d-links or if i need nvidias for some reason as i'm currently using its active armor firewall
