Brand new Samsung LCD and Onkyo Receiver = Bad picture

I bought the Samsung LN52A650 LCD TV 1080P 120hz and the Onkyo SR606 Receiver.

First I must say that the TV is amazing. I bought it for $1940 at amazon.com and also got blueray player for free. Some people complained that they speakers on the TV are poor quality but they are actually not bad. The picture is terrific.

However, when I connected the blueray to the receiver to the TV, the picture got severely worse (playing a standard dvd). Ive tried playing with the HDMI settings such as removing the upconversion but the picture is still not that great.

Has anyone had similar issue before? Maybe the receiver is outdated for the TV or blueray settings? Is that even possible?

Anyway, any advice is appreciated. thanks!

from that review it sounds as if they OP just needs to disable the upconverting capabilities of the 606. I have the 605, so I don't have that ability and have no issues with the video.

Yep I have two HDMI cables, one from BR to Receiver the other from Receiver to TV. Ive tried removing upconversion, but it didnt help
