Brand New Computer Randomly Shuts Off

I just completed a new build for my computer, and the only issue now is that every other time the computer is turned on, it randomly shuts off when trying to load the OS. This is prior to installing the OS, just when it starts to look for it, it shuts down.

I am installing Windows 7 now, and when it has to restart, it still does the same thing, the installation isn't complete yet.

I checked in the BIOS on one of the every other times that it DOESN'T shut down, and the CPU was only running at 24 Celsius, so I'm not sure what the problem is if it's not overheating.

Reseat all of your connections. I had this happen once and it was a loose hard drive cable that was doing it.

Reseated every connection, but the problem is still happening. It's very consistent with every other restart. The computer ran all night last night with no overheating, no problems whatsoever, but when I restarted, it dies.

Here's exactly what happens:
1) Computer turns on, shows motherboard screen and buttons I may press to enter the BIOS, Select Boot Device, etc...
2) Black screen then comes up, says "Loading Operating System....."
3) The little cursor that looks like "_", but blinking, then shoots across the screen underneath the Loading Operating System words, and the system shuts down, but then self boots in about 5 seconds and goes to the desktop flawlessly.

Grrr, I don't understand.

When I push tab to go into the POST it shows no IDE Master or Slaves. When the computer shuts itself down, it shows all the IDE master/slaves as none. When the computer goes through with the booting up, and doesn't shut down, it only shows 7 to 9 I think. Not sure if that's significant.

Should I reset the BIOS?

I just removed one stick of RAM. When I restarted the computer, all phase LED lights were on, and the computer stayed on for quite some time, although there was no video this time. The monitor didn't show the usual mobo logo or anything, but the computer did stay on and didn't shut off like normal.

What does this mean?

OP, do you have an internal PC speaker connected? Throw a speaker in there and see if it makes any beeps when you boot up your PC. You're motherboard's manual should have table that shows what different speaker signals mean, different errors for different numbers of tones. That should help you further diagnose the problem.

I don't have an internal PC speaker, not sure why it didn't come with one.

Not sure if a store in town carries any of em, lol.

It is possible the you have an intermittent grounding event. This can be caused by some part of the computer motherboard or something connected to it grounding out to the case. It can also be a bad power supply or some other connection. Maybe there is a loose screw under the motherboard or something is making contact that should not. Usually if you get no beeps it is a grounding problem.

This is when we tell you that you need to take it apart and test the motherboard outside the case. It can be a pain.

You may also have an issue with heat. You sure you seated the Heat Sink Properly on the CPU?
