Brand new computer no signal sent to LCD

I was having this same problem on my last computer.
I plugged in a Dell LCD and the orange light stayed on with no signal.
I took the cable out and it turned green for a few seconds and then went
to orange displaying a Dell UltraSharp logo.

With my old computer, I tried 2 different LCDs and had the same problem.
I then thought it could be the cable so I swapped them out and still no luck.
I just bought a brand new computer yesterday and it is doing the same thing
on both LCDs. I never even used the second LCD, but know it works. How
could both LCDs not work on two different computers (1 being new) ?

In my old computer, the power supply blew out. I replaced the power supply
and even had a new video card in it. I also even tried another motherboard.
So in all, I'ved used 3 different motherboards, 3 different video cards, and 2 different
LCDs.

Can anyone help?

THanks.

EDIT- When I press any of the buttons on the 2 LCDs, one says "In Sleep Mode" and the Dell says "Analog input 1 press any key or move mouse"
None of them respond to keystrokes or mouse movement.
I've even tried using differnt power cables along with different video cables.

How are you connecting to the LCD? VGA? DVI? Are you attempting to use any VGA->DVI or DVI->VGA converters in the mix? I have seen lots of issues with Dell monitors and people trying to use a DVI-A or a VGA->DVI connection for them. One of my main gripes with Dell monitors is the fact that they only use a DVI-D connection, not DVI-I like just about the rest of the world. My next suggestion would be to connect a CRT monitor to the computer to see if it is some type of strange resolution/refresh rate which is causing the issue. One of the great things about CRT's is that they can deal with all kinds of strange resolutions, unlike LCD monitors.

I wasn't using any kind of adapter.
You suggested to try a CRT for resolution/rate , but I do not have.
Remember I've used 3 different video cards, so how could each one have
resolution/rate issues?

Anything else I can do?

Thanks.

Search for a similar thread I did. The problem is the monitors software gets screwed up sometimes and doesn't process and/or output the video signal in a method that can be displayed by a LCD (I.e. Trying to output an 80hz image etc.)

There are some methods involving turning off the computer and monitor, removing power plus, making video connections and turning back on. Also in the thread I referenced, I had the same problem with a dell and there is a dell program you can run that helps reset the monitors software.

I just went through 8 pages of wherever you've posted and I couldn't find it.
Also, I'm using an old TV just to use the internet and I could barely see from 2 feet away.

You wouldn't happen to have a link of the post or Dell software, would you?

Thanks.

I think the problem lies in the Dell monitor being stuck in Power Save Mode and ATI Catalyst and Vista.

Most of the properties for the video card in Windows is grayed out.
I looked through Catalyst and it only gives me the option of using 29hz/30hz refresh rate

I'm sick of using this old TV, I can barely see two feet away from it.

Woofmeister thanks, but it's not that simple with the cords and things. I know how to
setup a monitor, trust me.

1905fp may be stuck in Power Save Mode. The thing is the stupid ATI 2400XT doesn't even detect the 1905fp. When I enable it, it just goes back to gray.
The other lcd isn't even detected either.
In the settings for ATI Catalyst, there are two rectangles one for the TV that is hooked up and the other one simply labeled "Default Monitor". It doesn't say 1905fp. The first rectangle(the TV), only has the option of 29hz or 30hz. The second rectangle(nothing), has a properties tab that says only 60hz. Alot of the properties tab is disabled because Catalyst took total control over it.

I'm using Vista Home Premium and ATI Catalyst 8.6 and even installed the 1905fp drivers.
Nothing is working! I don't have a CRT to test out. Anyone know of anything at all besides "did you check your cable? Is it in all the way? Is it in the right spot? "

Are there issues with the 2400xt and the 1905fp? I've read there are from random links and I've read that there aren't from other links.
The 2400XT is also certified for Vista.

I've looked everywhere and cannot find a proper solution.
The S-Video out seems to be apart of the motherboard.
THe motherboard is an NForce 7100 630i or so Everest says.
I do not know which company made the nForce or distributed it.
I've read NForce 7100 has an onboard GeForce 7100.
I've downloaded the drivers for it hoping it would atleast fix my
S-Video, but I had no luck.

Anyone know anything at all to get my video card to get my LCD
working? The LCD is not even recognized and the monitor says in Power
Save Mode press any key and does nothing.
