Hello. I just set up my new computer and I got the net to work perfectly but whenever I try to run an exe game patcher (such as everquest, rose online, EQ2) and I'm sure they'll all do the same. They all say they can't detect a network connection.

My MB is A8N-E, I plugged in my network cable that comes from my router. I'm set up as DMZ host (it's always worked fine before, I haven't changed any router settings).

I notice in the network connections I also have a 1394 Net Adapter, and my connection to the internet is called "Nvidia nForce Networking Controller" and I set in the same usual info with an assigned IP, subnet mask, default gateway and two correct DNS entries.

I installed the ethernet adapter using the CD that came with my A8N-E MB.

please guys.. help me fix this.

I tried with a direct connection (took router out of the loop) and still no luck.. net continues to works nice and very fast.. but no go on patchers.. also tried different cables.

windows firewall is disabled too and i didn't install any other firewall software.

hah! fixed it... it was the nvidia firewall that was on.. i went in device manager.. went into the properties of the nvidia ethernet adaptor and found a lot of options including a firewall that was turned on to medium.
