Brand new car, soaked after I left sunroof open and it rained all night/day

Well, I came home a late after watchin' spider-man and gettin a few drinks in at the local pub, and somehow I left the sunroof open...WIDE open.

I didn't get outta the house until 1pm today cuz of the rain (it started drizzling at midnight and its been raining steadily ever since.) There was no standing water, but the rear floor and front seats were soaked pretty bad. Also, some stupid bird decided to take a sh*t through the sunroof--smacked right on the passenger seat (luckily its been scotchguarded and it cleaned easy.)

I've already taken the mats out to dry, used a wet/dry vac on the upholstery and floor, and i've left the car aerated in the garage with a big fan.

Anything else I should do to make sure the car doesn't get mildew and start to smell?

Oh no. :(

PLEASE tell me you don`t have leather. It sounds to me like you are doing all of the right things. (aside from closing the sunroof)

Bummer! LOTS of airflow is your only hope....and it's gonna take quite a while to dry completely.

It's going to smell different, but if you get it to dry quickly, you can avoid the mildew problem.

Take it outside, open all windows and circulate air with 20" fan. More fresh outside air=faster it dries

Make sure the sun is shining this time! And pay attention to the weather forecast!

better use a hair dryer or something. If you don't dry it quick, it's going to stink

have a friggin' dry-my-car party get all your friends to bring their hair-dryers and use a surge protector hooked to an extension cord outside. Damn, man I feel sorry for you. Hope you don't have leather and GOOD LUCK!

Don't feel bad; I've done that more than a few times with my convertible RX7. It'll dry out.

UPDATES:

I have cloth, in a 6 week old 2002 Accord EX (1600 miles man!)

It rained all day, but when it let up enough I drove around for an hour with the heat on max, vents on floor only, fan full blast, windows all open (no water coming in.) As I write this, the car is parked outside with all windows open a crack (shouldn't rain again but there's still a chance!) So far no smell thanks to the wet/dry. Once it gets dry tomorrow I'm going to spray some Febreze (sp?) on the floor and affected seats. It's supposed to be a bright, hot sunny day!

If it ends up starting to stink, I'll end up taking the car to a detailing service and I'll let them fix it. No way I'm gonna drive a stinky car for three years (leased vehicle!)

I am no longer on campus (but I used to live in Graham--graduated May 2001!)

EDIT: Oh forgot to mention, I live in Charlotte, and the reason I don't usually park in the garage is because its reserved for dad's MDX and his workbench/tools etc. and random boxes which take up the rest of the space.

you need a space heater to dry it out... works great in KY where haalf the cars on the road in some parts are rebuilds/flood cars. just do not burn it up!
