I tried a CyberPower PC because the prices were competitive and I didnt have the time to piece out a box and build it like i normally do. Experience was great, shipped quick and in good condition but its been BSOD on me. BIOS and chipset drivers all updated

Memtest passes with no errors The memory is "Corsair or name other major name brand" from CyberPowerPC. Its DDR3 1600 2gb x 4. Mobo DDR3 voltage default is set to 1.5, should it be raised to 1.64v in BIOS settings? A gigabyte tech suggested this after checking the ram voltage but since Im not 100% sure what it is I dont know.

You can call cyberpower tech support since you just bought the pc from them.

Ive received some email tech support but it was pretty generic. They suggested memtest and using ram 1 sick at a time. The phone suport i horrendous I hear. I haven no tried it yet sine its the weeked. I suspect I'll have to fix this myself.

Since you just bought the computer they are responsible for the machine, it's up to them to fix the system and make it 100% stable.

Though from what I can tell there is either a driver issue (normally the faulting driver would often show in the analysis) or memory issue.

Try memtest and don't stop running it after the first pass... most systems with an error can pass multiple times, I suggest at least 8 times or more if possible. Have you run it for a long period of time?

Also do a reinstall of all drivers, don't discount any, that includes the video and sound drivers.

Gigabyte also do some utilities along with Asus that have been known to throw errors like this too so try removing any motherboard utilities.

Have you got more dump files? If so post more? Your current dump file analysis is :

Sorry if this isn't much help... It can be a real pain getting issues like this when you build your own, but to get from a store...

Also use CPU-Z to find out the exact memory, manufacturer and other useful information should be located under SPD. That way you can check to see if Gigabyte are indeed correct about the voltages.

Great advice... I seem to have come to a solution, although its not a great one. A member at the gigabyte forums suggested downlocking the RAM just to test and see.

Its also true that AMD actually recommends 1333mhz with AM3 instead of 1600mhz. Apparently 1600 can be done but may cause stability issues with a lot of setups. CyberpowerPC happened to be running a promo where you could upgrade to 1600 from 1333 for free so I did it. After looking into it, this is actually not a great idea as AM3 tends to play nicer with 1333mhz. As it turns out, "Corsair or other Major Brand" ends up being A-DATA garbage it looks like. They are A-DATA 2gb 1600G units x4.

I downclocked to 1066mhz - All of a sudden, the system seems stable. I am playing Black Ops with no crashes or anything and the system hasnt BSOD all day! Sadly, im only running 1066mhz. I suspect its the 4x2gb A-DATA 1600 thats causing the issue and I will be asking CyberPower for a replacement of RAM rather than trying to RMA the entire system. This should actually save them money on shipping, etc. so I hope they work with me and get me some decent ram ASAP. Otherwise, its a great system since i picked all the other parts. The lesson is, specify EACH component as if you were building so you get what you want. I think this is the problem because I havent BSOD since I downloacked. I will report back if it changes. Upping the voltage to 1.64v didnt help and running at either 1333mhz or 1600mhz gave me BSOD. The setting that seems to give me stability is normal voltage of 1.5v w/ 1066mhz!

Which ram should i request? I want some thats known to work well with these boards even if I cant end up doing 1600mhz.

Here is a link to a PDF document stating the memory that Gigabyte have tested and found to work with your board :

The above quote is the listed 1600 modules, I use Corsair, Geil and Crucial mostly in my systems... Used to use OCZ (They tend to need more voltage than other modules) but had issues with them. So I would see if they'd be willing to swap them out with either Corsair, Geil or Kingston.

Messed up the quote and won't let me edit the post...

It seems that 4 banks filled could be an issue with 1600Mhz memory... So maybe ask for the 1333Mhz editions?

There is very little speed improvements or noticable improvement anyway and it's much better to have no issues than having possible issues again.
