Too much for a crap car. It does not even look good. Solid rear axle, yeah right.

You're a bigoted retard, no 99-04 generation Cobra has a solid rear axle.

Why don't you tell us about the push rods and leaf springs it has too?

I do agree, most any car with a *functional* wing and ground effects will look ugly, but race cars aren't about looks.

That's a lot of dough for a Mustang, period...Definitely not where I'd spend $70k...or even $50k...

It's not a tumor... I mean stang..

Cobra.. 2 different cars basically different engine tranny and suspension most Cobra owners get a tad irate when you call their cars a Mustang..
like calling a Saleen just a Mustang.. ( and those top out over 100k for every option)

i was always fond of the... i think it was a 94 but maybe 95 cobra R. 351 windsor and only came in white. not exactly a monster nowadays but would still be a lot of fun.

I'm not much of a fan, so it doesn't matter to me. Most of those cars look the same anyway. Put em up against my 1KRR & it doesn't matter. People talk about fast cars like they're actually fast...most aren't...

If I can leave a car behind with little effort, it's not a fast car.

Well, then they are idiots...because that's what they own. It is a Mustang Cobra or a Saleen Mustang because they come from the factory Mustang. Only the Cobra is built by Ford so if anyone has a right to a unique name it is the Cobra but even that starts out with a run of the mill Ford Mustang chassis. Saleen starts out with a complete Ford Mustang car when they build up their cars and I think the base model is the starting point because it is cheaper and they rip out and replace all the important bits anyway.

actually Saleen buys SHELLS only from Ford.
and they arent a Mustang anymore.. they are a Saleen period..
it has a different VIN and is a ground up different car..
In the early days before Saleen was a true manufacture this was true..
it was a Bolt on car like a Steeda or a Hennesey,
But anything after that is no longer a Ford at all it is not a Mustang and it is not technically a Ford any longer.
It is a Saleen from the ground up and are certified as such.

As for the Cobra.. it is still not a Mustang ask the dealer they will tell you the same thing.. Its a Cobra.. it has VERY little in common with a Mustang. just a partial interior and the main body shell itself thats it..
everything else is a part specifically created for the Cobra.

And yes having owned 7 various Mustangs and Cobras over the last 20 years I guess I am a Ford Snob..

as for the gent above.. seriously you are gonna bring bikes into this?
I race bikes (CCS Roadracing).. I am well aware of how fast they are.. Not many cars on the face of the planet can hang with a good rider on a bike.

Cars should be compared to cars.. bikes to bikes.. there really is no crossover.

That's like saying my SRT-4 isn't a Neon. They're all Mustangs.

Same shell, same car. Just because they slap their own vin on it doesn't make it something else. The Mustang chassis is excellent, not sure why Saleen owners try to distance themselves from it quite frankly because there is NO mistaking it.

And a Ford dealer will tell you any bullshit plus different bullshit on any given day. You may think it has very little in common but it actually has quite a bit in common...it's called economies of scale and Ford would be stupid not to take advantage of that as much as possible when producing a car.

You either over read or under read my message, but no worries. The intention of my message was to point out that most cars aren't really fast & it's funny when people start talking about so-called fast cars. It's all relative, really. Back to a specific comment I made, if I can leave a car without having to redline my bike in every gear, that's not a fast car.

Being that you're a road racer (I'm still toying with racing AFM next season), I would think you of all people would agree that most cars aren't fast. Bikes are fast. So if people want to talk about vehicles being fast, then talk about fast vehicles. Unless a Mustang, Cobra, SVT or whatever has had an enormous amount of work done to it or it has a ton of boost, it won't be fast, it will only be faster than the models with less hp.

Yea, I threw bikes into the mix in a car convo...I'm guilty as charged...lol...I'll tell you a car that probably is actually fast, & that's the ZR1. I've read that car is no slouch. Ok, I won't derail this thread any further...
