Branch Prediction types in K8 (AMD Hammer)

Hi,

Does anyone happen to have any detailed info on the AMD Hammer's branch predictor type? I've learned about the GAp, PAg, PAp, and GAg predictors (these are 2-level branch predictors) in my architecture class. Which of these fits Hammer?

I have this link from Hotchips.org which provides info about the Hammer core, but I cannot decipher the data to match that of the four predictors I listed above. Can anyone help me out here? A link to some information would be great.

Thanks in advance. 🙂

It's 2 bit 16K one, from page 5. I loaned my Patterson and Hennesy book to someone 🙂
Read This for more info. It's the last part of the lecture.

So I take it Hammer doesn't use a 2-level predictor but rather a 2-bit one? Somehow that just seems odd to me.. maybe I'm missing something here.. 😕

But thank you for that link though 😀
