That cop was following waaaay too close, given the road conditions.

But at least he busted the jerk for hogging the passing lane. :)

That cop was driving in an unsafe manner.
IMO, the van driver did not do anything wrong.

Perhaps, but I'll bet he was that close so he could get the guy's plate info to run a check prior to stopping him for not moving to the left. (or at least, that'd be MY argument if I was that cop)

The cop was doing that to make a point, of which the oblivious moron failed the grasp for FAR too long.
And then he provoked the cop. Like a total idiot. Hope he got a ticket out of the ordeal.

I am not a cop, but I too will do that if the right lane is completely open or a guy in the left lane is traveling the same speed or, worse, slower, than traffic in the right lane.
I'll get quite close once I get to the point of frustration.

People are way too damn oblivious to multi-lane traffic laws (though also merely guidelines in some states, and rarely enforced anyway). I try my hardest to open some peoples eyes, and really try hard to never pass on someone's right, but dammit some people make it impossible to do anything else.

pulled over for what?

I'm betting it wasn't for the way he was driving, though I'm sure they tacked that on to whatever else they could stick him with.

That cop was already in the process of passing the van. There must have been a hit on the license plate or on the owner's name.

Wonder if he noticed a lack of seat belt?

Perhaps he wanted to get alongside the van and then pull him over. Also, may have wanted to get a look at the driver for whatever reason.

In addition to any possible passing lane violation, I'll bet he got wrote for the brake check as well.

Meh, only a handful of states actually have the "passing only" law for the left lane.

Video says it was in NJ and they do have such a law.

Still it wouldn't had mattered if you are doing reckless driving.
